Edward Buffalo Bromberg, born in 1955, is a stage director, translator, and dramaturg based in Stockholm, Sweden.

He studied acting and archaeology at the University of Pittsburgh before leaving in 1975 to tour Europe with The Living Theatre.

Eventually, Edward settled in Sweden and began working with independent companies there, primarily Jordcirkus (Earthcircus), while also making side trips to collaborate with companies in Norway, Poland, Spain, and San Francisco.

He studied directing at Dramatiska Institutet and later helped establish the production cooperative Teaterkollectivet Rex. His directing credits include Shneider and Shuster (J. Sobel), The Lonesome West (M. McDonaugh), Kvarbo (B. Ohlsson), Below the Belt (R. Dresser), The Head of Red O’Brien (M. O’Halloran), Rut and Ragnar (K. Lugn). Edward wrote and directed White Sand, White Snow, a play for children about cultural identity and climate change. He has translated fifteen or more Swedish plays into English and a handful of English-language plays into Swedish.

Edward recently retired after 13 years as a dramaturge and project manager at Riksteatern (Sweden’s National Touring Theatre).

He is still active, translating for the stage, television, and film, and working as a dramaturge on various projects, both internationally and in Sweden.
